Customer Case: HPLC System Helps Qatar Laboratory Improve Food Additive Testing Accuracy

Background

Ensuring food safety is one of the most important aspects of modern laboratory testing.

A food testing laboratory in Qatar was seeking a reliable HPLC system to improve their detection of preservatives, artificial colorants, antioxidants, flavoring agents, caffeine, and melamine in various food samples.

Their primary challenge was achieving stable separation, high detection sensitivity, and consistent repeatability when testing complex food matrices.


Our HPLC Solution

  • To meet the customer’s analytical requirements, our engineering team provided a customized High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) configuration, including:
  • Two 10 mL/min high-pressure pumps for both isocratic and gradient elution
  • UV variable wavelength detector (190–700 nm) for multi-component detection
  • 7725i manual injection valve ensuring precise and repeatable injections

This configuration combines excellent flow accuracy, low noise detection, and robust performance, ideal for food additive and contaminant analysis.


Results and Performance

  • After installation and testing, the Qatar laboratory achieved:
  • Accurate baseline separation for all target compounds
  • Improved quantitative accuracy for routine food safety monitoring
  • Reduced analysis time while maintaining high reproducibility
  • Stable operation even under continuous daily use
